When the refinery failed, it wasn’t just hundreds of miners who died. From that day on, the colony was dying too.

Colonists had travelled hundreds of light years for the promise of a better life, but with the mineral deposits all but depleted and refinery destroyed, the lifeblood of New Providence was slowly draining away.

A decade later, the wealthy few are now preparing to return to Earth on a gleaming luxury starliner, leading to mass protests by the many being left behind. The entire colony has become a powderkeg of resentment and desperation, and somebody is about to strike a match…

Orphaned gardener Rose, left without a family when the refinery failed, is forced to become a Peace Keeper to protect the people she loves from an inexplicable wave of violence. Drawing upon the almost-forgotten training of her childhood, Rose battles swarms of mutated alien bugs and out of control robots. Slowly, she realises that these are not random events, but are part of an unspeakably evil plan…

As Rose and her fellow Peace Keeper Wolf are pursuing the criminal masterminds of the Lands End massacre, their shuttle is shot down over the toxic wasteland left behind by the failure of the refinery. To their horror, they find instead that not everybody died in the disaster: some of the victims live on, altered and alien, no longer remotely human. Yet, even more dangerous things lurk in the ruins…

Hidden within the freezing ruins of the Rinehart Refinery, Zero's army of murderous criminals prepare to assault the colonial capital, First Landing. Racing against time, our three heroes must confront the ghosts of New Providence's past in order to stop the Zero Day coup. Joined by new allies, will one Peace Keepers make the ultimate sacrifice so that Justice may prevail?

The city streets of First Landing explode with violence in this apocalyptic finale to Ticket To Earth. Surrounded by enemies, our heroes must enter the very heart of the conspiracy in order to stop Zero's genocidal coup. Who lives? Who dies? Who will travel home to Earth? Episode 4 is coming in early 2019.

I am of two minds on this game. If you just want a sci-fi tactics game to mess around with, Ticket to Earth has a vibrant and beautiful world and (at least as far as I got) interesting characters, and a very enjoyable draw-a-path set of mechanics. If you're a perfectionist who needs to get every bonus objective all the time, this game is NOT for you (or me).

TtE, in my eyes, is held back by the fact that often times, the bonus objectives are LITERALLY impossible to complete without restarting a least a handful, if not dozens of times. Missions where, for example, you need to kill an enemy on the first turn, but there aren't enough tiles to power up your ranged ability, and there isn't an available path all the way to an enemy/enough power to kill that enemy even if you can get there. I spent about 55 of my 96 minutes of playtime on a single mission, restarting over and over again to try and fulfill all the bonus objectives, before finally realizing any more attempts would have me smashing my keyboard in frustration, at which point I gave up and just completed the mission with 1/3 objectives done. I kept hoping that the RNG would favour me, but even with heavy restarts, it seems that completing every bonus objective is nigh-on impossible for most missions.

I really wish that the devs had included pseudo-random RNG, ensuring that there was always a solution (assuming you played perfectly), rather than pure RNG, but for now, I'm just going to have to give this game up.

TtE MAY get better once you can purchase better abilities, but honestly, I'm so angry at this game and its RNG that I'd rather just refund it and not waste any more of my time.

If you can get through the RNG balogna, Ticket to Earth is probably a great game, and I'd recommend at least giving it a shot. That said, if you're a completionist who needs to finish every objective, I recommend staying the hell away, as it will be nothing but an exercise in frustration.. What a great game! The deceptively simple 4 color trail tracing mechanic is surprisingly deep when combined with the color powerups and weapons. On top of that the story adds some great flavor and originality to the mix. Three thumbs up!. Ticket to Earth is a good turn-based, tactical, match 3 game. It has an interesting sci-fi story, that is presented as a comic book style. It's colorful, vibrant and beautiful sci-fi world. The story will suck you in and the battles on the Grid will keep you wanting more.
The UI is simple and easy to use, you need only your mouse to control everything.
The first couple of missions have a nice tutorial, and unlocking new shops/stations are covered in the ongoing story, where they will tell everything that you must know.

You will get money for completing story and side (justice) missions, and talent tokens for completing story missions and it's bonus objectives (justice missions only rewards money)
Spend money to get new skills and more powerfull weaponry, but if you like suffering and makeing the game more difficult, you can finnish it without buying anything. On my first run I only bought the new skills and finished the game with the starting weapons, because I run out of money.....and there is an achievement for it.....if you are a completionist.....but it was really difficult.

There are skills for stunn, burn or poison the enemy, making your next attack more powerfull for a single target or striking multiple target, heal yourself or change the tiles colour around you.

With talent tokens you can unlock new talents for your characters in his/her talent tree, they are like passive power ups, make you stronger (more HP) some tiles can heal you or give more attack damage, and you can reset the talent tree to try out different strategies.

Currently money and talent tokens are limited, because the game is not complete (only Episode 1) so spend you money wisely because skills are not cheap and cant reset them unlike the talent tree (resetting the talent tree will make reselling the weapons back to the shop on there original price)

If you can match 8 or more tiles in one go, it will reward you with a Justice token to power up your super powerfull attack, unleashing it will hit every enemy on the battle grid with massive damage. But you must pick up these tokens before they wanish (after 3-4 turns money, health, jtokens will dissapear) or the enemy picks them up (you can save jtokens by killing the target to drop it again) and before finishing the battle. Jtokens will carry over to the next mission, so you can power up and unleash it in the next mission (even on the first turn)

Some of the starting grid colour and character/enemy placement are set, but most of it and the used tiles changing colour is heavily RNG. So sometimes you will restart the battle because RNG-gods will hate you and make you suffer.

After some story missions you will unlock every station/shop, and you can replay every mission to finish all bonus objective that you have failed before, or grind a little bit for justice tokens, or finish some achievement.
So don't fear if you cant complete all bonus objective in one run.
The story (so far) is linear, there are no choices or decisions.

My only negative complaint with the game is, there is currently only 1 Episode playable. The other 3 episodes will hopefully shortly follow.
So for now the game will offer 5-10 hours of play time (5 for running throu and 10 if you are a completionist) and for that it's a little bit expensive. But and it's a big BUT (no pun intended) if all 4 episode is this long, and the devs keep the game and story quality high, than it's a fair price for the game.. Ticket to earth is a charming sci-fi romp with relatively light turn-based gameplay and a respectable length. The package as a whole is very engaging; being well balanced and paced with constant progression and bits of story between every main mission. The gameplay is not massively difficult so one doesn't need years of experience in the genre to have a good time with Ticket to Earth; but it does keep ramping up well and very few mission are actual push-overs. The story as well starts slow but did grow on me at least, partially thanks to the sheer length(took me 20ish hours to basically 90% 3/4 episodes with one not yet released). At this point I can't wait to see the story to it's conclusion.

Ticket to Earth is clearly a relatively small game, but it is one where the devs have put their time in all the right places and everything is pretty polished and as said lengthy. It doesn't actually feel constrained or limited due to outside factors, and as such was quite a blast to play through.. I am of two minds on this game. If you just want a sci-fi tactics game to mess around with, Ticket to Earth has a vibrant and beautiful world and (at least as far as I got) interesting characters, and a very enjoyable draw-a-path set of mechanics. The deceptively simple 4 color trail tracing mechanic is surprisingly deep when combined with the color powerups and weapons. On top of that the story adds some great flavor and originality to the mix. Three thumbs up!. Fusion of puzzle grid based casual game & tactical rpg. Combats are interconnected with a lot of narrative story telling given via gorgeous artworks comic books style reinforcing the sci-fi universe the game is built upon.. This review is written after playing through the first two chapters of the story.
Ticket to Earth is a really enjoyable and addictive Puzzle-Strategy Game with RPG Elements, that I would highly recommend.
The gameplay is easy to learn but has also depth to it, which shows intself once you have progessed through the story and unlock more characters and abilitys.
The story, world and characters, while not terribly unique and following some well traveld tropes fit into their own world quit nicely, and you want to follow the plot along, You can see many inluences from other Sci-Fi Media, yet it never feels to much like a ripoff.
My biggest complaint is that sometimes there can be mood dissonance with the situations and the character, which will show itself in the dialog, and sometimes the missions can blend together a bit.
Overall this is a really good games and I can't wait for the next Episode.. Really good turn-based tactics game with fresh, inventive mechanics, clean presentation and an interesting story told comic book style. The dialogue writing and music are both surprisingly good. The only potential downside I see is the episodic nature, depending on how long it will take the developer to release the next episodes. That said, the fairly low price gets you all four episodes. Well recommended!

Ticket to Earth - Patch Release:
We've released a minor update for Ticket to Earth. This update includes:

  • An update to the Combat Meditation (Replay) screen that show which hero will be playing each mission.
  • A fix for an issue with the "Plutolatry" and "Choke on This" achievements.

In other news, we're continuing to test and balance Episode 2, and will be announcing a date for its release soon.. A Dossier on Dr Matthias Kurtz:
Greetings Peacekeepers,

As requested, we have shared excerpts from a Justice Engine dossier on Dr. Matthias Kurtz.

In 2776, Dr. Matthias Kurtz was appointed Chief Medical Officer for the Colony on New Providence. Kurtz signed for a single ten year tour.

2786 - 2796
CMO Kurtz lived in the Administrative District in First Landing; peer reportage indicated that he was well regarded by other Administration officers. Like many newcomers, Kurtz immersed himself in the local culture, becoming an advocate for the martial exercise regime of the Solar Consciousness Movement. During this period, Kurtz expanded the hospital facilities in the major settlements of First Landing and Beacon's Field. Worker safety advocates accused Kurtz of prioritising the needs of shareholders and founding families over contractors. Kurtz countered his critics by insisting that these investments facilitated much needed research into the long term effects of Nitrium exposure. At the end of his contract, Kurtz signed on for a second ten year term.

2797 - 2806
During his second decade, Kurtz dedicated himself to improving the life expectancy of workers in the Nitrium mines. Movement exercise and training was underwritten by the Corporation. Kurtz approved the distribution of free medications to mitigate the effects of Nitrium toxicity. These actions met with general approval in the Administration; mortality rates went down with a commensurate increase in mining output. Given license to pursue his research, Kurtz invested his time at the Von Juntz Clinic in Beacon's Field. The Clinic, a private facility, provided treatment for long-term sufferers of Nitrium poisoning. [ADDENDUM: Documents retrieved from the Clinic during the evacuation indicate that Kurtz's primary focus was the biological mutagenic properties of Nitrium.]

September, 2806
CMO Kurtz was present in Beacon's Field on the day of the Fail. As the voice of the Administration, Kurtz co-ordinated the efforts of first responders and subsequent evacuation procedure. For his heroic efforts, Kurtz was given a record performance bonus.

2807-2811
After the failure of the Refinery, Kurtz did not sign up for a third service term.
Increasingly reclusive, Kurtz spent most of his time in private practice in First Landing.

April, 2811
Official complaint by XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX lead to investigation of Kurtz’s home clinic and seizure of XXXXXXX and XXXXXXXXXXX. All XXXXXXXXXX were subsequently destroyed. Psychological evaluations during this period indicate that Kurtz was suffering PTSD and delusional anxiety. [NOTE: Some details been redacted.]

May, 2810
Kurtz travelled to attend a Meditation Retreat in Sanctuary. Hyper-rail records indicate the Kurtz never disembarked in Sanctuary. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Current Case Status - 2016:
CMO Matthias Kurtz is currently Missing, presumed Dead.
Peace Keeper investigators tasked with finding him have found no trace of Matthias Kurtz in Sanctuary, or any other settlement.

. Using Tiles as Weapons!:
Greetings Peace Keepers,

This week we wanted to show you another one of Seven’s unique powers! She can cause all tiles on the field of a certain colour to explode, dealing damage to enemies standing next to them.

This power can create some fun combos with tile manipulation powers like Rose’s Assault Path...

...and Doc’s Impose Order.

Seven has an intriguing story arc, and is also a really fun character to play. Her powers open up a lot of new combat options!

Until next time!

Yes, the wait is nearly over, and Ticket to Earth Episode 2: Crash will be available to download very soon. Players on iOS will be getting the free update first as it launched on the App Store today, but PC and Mac players will be getting it very soon afterwards. We will be announcing the date early next week!

Here are some of the cool new features you’ll be seeing in Episode 2:

To be continued... Following the cliffhanger ending of Episode 1, Rose and Wolf are shot down above a toxic industrial wasteland. Before they were fighting for justice; now they’ll be fighting to survive!

Meet the locals... Hordes of new enemies, including grotesque mutants and vicious militia armed to the teeth with devastating weapons, with both groups led by powerful new bosses.

She’s crafty… A new crafting system lets players collect rare crystals and combine them into powerful gems which they can socket into their equipment to gain special bonuses.

- The Robot Circus Team. Ticket to Earth News:
Greetings to the Steam Ticket to Earth community!

We’re hard at work on Episode 3: Meltdown, but we’ve had some other awesome stuff going on.

As we mentioned in our last news post, we’ve been doing some festival appearances and been nominated for some awards. Last week we were in Paris for the first Indiecade Europe, and the week before was attended Melbourne International Games Week, concluding with our booth at PAX Australia. MIGW included the Australian Game Developer Awards, and we were thrilled that Ticket to Earth picked up an AGDA!

Thanks again for sticking with us on this journey. Indie game development is a tricky business, and it’s only possible because people like you are willing to take a chance on projects like ours. Thanks for placing your trust in us.

Okay, back to work on Episode 3. More news soon!

- The Robot Circus Team. Episode 3 is on the way!:
Greetings Peace Keepers,

Sorry for the extended break in transmission, Ticket To Earth is still very much alive.

An update on Episode 3 is long overdue, and we sincerely apologise for the delay. We’re a small indie team and some unexpected life events have caused this Episode to take longer than planned to complete. However, Episode 3 is now back on track and we’ll be posting weekly updates from now until the release.

We have not finalised the release date yet, but we will lock that in soon, and we’ll be announcing it in these updates.

For now, here are some fresh visuals to give you a peek at some of Episode 3.

Episode 3 picks up right where Episode 2 finishes, at the old Refinery.

As if staring down an army of a murderous criminals was not enough of a challenge, the freezing alpine environment will also be your enemy.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing information about the new player characters, new enemies, new powers, and more. Stay tuned!!

Peace out!
